Where to Begin...
What to expect during this whole process...
An Inground Pool installation can be an exciting process but also stressful at times. After all it's not something that you do every other week. What to expect? How does this all work? How much will this all cost? These are all good questions that you need to figure out. Hopefully the following will give you a few answers and help with the process.
It's important for you to work with a team that can guide you throughout the whole buying experience, the building process and of course help with owning a pool for years to come. We mentioned team above, and for good reason. Much like building a house, building a pool draws on multiple experts that are specialist in what they do. From designers, builders, electricians, landscapers and so on, an army of people and companies are involved And really this brings up the first big idea that the homeowner needs to be aware of. There are a variety of different approaches to how different companies come at this. Some 'Pool' companies offer a full 'turn-key solution' where you only deal with one person and one company. They either have all the needed trades in house or sub-contract directly so that you have nothing to consider or do. Others will only build the pool and leave everything else up to you. From the design to the landscaping, electrical, gas hookup, permit, inspections, water filling, etc etc etc. Either approach is valid and has it's advantages and disadvantages. Each way may be more or less attractive to you and your specific project. When we deal with a client that owns an excavation company they generally want to take care of the digging and bringing in the materials themselves. For pretty much everybody else they don't even want to think about that part! At Campbell Pools we are pretty much right in the middle of this scale. We will take care of as much or as little of those details as you want. If you have no interest in looking for an electrician, getting quotes and scheduling, then we will do that for you. On the other hand if your brother-in-law is a qualified electrician and will help you out at a great price, then we will make that work. This is the type of conversation that you want to have with any builder you may be considering. Here are a few other things you want to consider... How many swimming pools have you installed before? How many years of experience? We have been in the industry long enough to see builders come and go. Especially part time builders who make a lot promises they can't keep. With over 30 years in the pool industry, we are proud to say that we have installed nearly two thousand Inground pools in the Ottawa area. We have very clear installation process and standards that are time tested and result in a quality build. When we come to your yard to build a pool, you will be dealing will people who know what they are building, and building it right. When will my swimming pool be installed? How many pool installations are pending before mine? Weather! Weather! Weather! Did we mention that weather has an impact on the day your pool is installed? This is a project that is at the mercy of the weather and it's important to understand that going in. What is important to ask how many other projects are scheduled and where you are in that schedule. We will be transparent and keep you informed about where we are in our schedule and if we experience any delays. We take responsibility and care for every pool that is installed. After all we only make a living when we complete your project. If there is a delay that hurts us too! How long will it take to get my swimming pool built? This is good question and it can be hard to answer precisely early in the process. In general our projects will require three to four weeks from the day we start digging to when you can jump in and enjoy the pool. Of course this can vary depending on a whole bunch of things. How was the weather? Is there a landscaper involved and how long will that take? Are there any complicated design elements that require special consideration? |
What is important is a builder that can tell you right up front how long the project will take and be honest about it. At Campbell Pools we will never tell you what you want to hear, we will tell you the truth. With years of experience we know how long it takes to get the job done right and that's what we'll communicate to you. Most delays we encounter are from the weather or waiting on city inspections and permits. When those happen we will keep you informed the exact details so you know what is going on. When you talk with our team, don't be afraid to ask these questions.
Do you build own swimming pool do you outsource the work? We do both. As a seasonal business it's always a challenge to have full time crews so we do hire highly qualified builders with whom t we've built good relationships with over time. But we also maintain an 'in-house' capability to build and install our own pools when needed. This has given us the ability to be flexible in our build schedule and maintain expert proficiency. As a consumer you want to understand exactly who will be in your yard the day of installation. Are they qualified? Are they insured and have proper WSIB coverage? Campbell Pools may use contractors, but you can rest assured that they are fully vetted and insured. The crew in your yard may have a separate tax number, but they are part of Campbell Pools when they are in your yard. How many swimming pools have you installed before? How many years of experience?
